Dr Rene de Monchy

FRANZCP

Dr Rene de Monchy is a New Zealand-based psychiatrist and psychotherapist known for combining conventional and complementary medicine, particularly through anthroposophy. Inspired by his father’s wartime bravery, he carried forward a commitment to serving humanity.

After moving to New Zealand in 1975, Rene worked as a GP and obstetrician until 1996. At 50, he spent four years in rural Zimbabwe, where he embraced the interconnectedness of humanity, reshaping his approach to medicine. Later, at 62, he specialised in psychiatry, focusing on holistic, individualised care that addressed physical, emotional, and spiritual health.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Rene opposed coercive mandates and criticised pharmaceutical influence on healthcare. A signer of The Great Barrington Declaration, he strongly supported medical choice and natural immunity. His advocacy led to professional challenges, including the loss of his job, but he continues to stand as a determined proponent of ethical, patient-centred medicine.
