Dietician’s Research Background Led to Vaccine Hesitancy
Professional Observation from a Dietician and Research Consultant
It’s been a little over 3 years now since we (healthcare professionals) were mandated to have received our first Covid-19 jab. Do you know how many (jabbed) people have asked me why I didn’t get the jab? None, not a single one. I’ve given up waiting for someone to ask, so I’m taking up this offer (thank-you NZDSOS) to share my story.
Prior to the pandemic I had been doing some contract work to a govt dept, mostly nutrition-related projects. However, perhaps due to having had previous experience working for a large global pharmaceutical company, I had been offered a couple of other projects to work on, one of which included looking into gene therapy treatments for paediatric cancer, specifically CAR-T cell therapy, but also reviewing the literature on other gene therapies in the pipeline, including mRNA therapy. So, around 9 months prior to the pandemic I’d reviewed the 20+ years of published scientific literature on mRNA therapy.
Having known that not a single mRNA-based product had received marketing authorisation prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, I was very skeptical when it was announced that not one but two mRNA based ‘vaccines’ had been found to be extremely safe and very effective. So I took a watch and wait approach. And the longer I watched and waited, the more data I saw, the more literature I read, the more determined I became to say no to a ‘vaccine’ for the very fist time in my life.
For me it’s been a very disappointing ride. I’m disappointed in many – not all – of my fellow human beings who were so easily and quickly led to believe that every single person that said no must be an anti-vax conspiracy theorist who’s got lost down some rabbit hole, and so they simply didn’t need to ask me why I said no. They already knew, or so they thought.
Thanks for the opportunity to share my story, and that’s why I said no.
