I Was Watching the Medsafe Reports

I am a 57 year old osteopath with 35 years experience in practice.

As a health provider I understand the importance of informed consent, honest communication and a patients right to decline treatment. As the vaccine roll out started, I was closely monitoring the updates on the Medsafe website and similar websites for reporting in the UK. Immediately there were concerns arising from the vaccine being reported and I was shocked that nothing was being mentioned in any mainstream news. On the contrary the vaccine was being heavily marketed as safe and effective, even though it had not been fully approved by Medsafe who had asked for over 50 concerns they had, to be addressed by Pfizer. 

In the weeks that followed excessive measures were employed to coerce people to take the Pfizer vaccine. Continuous fear mongering, and bombardment from Covid vaccine advertisements on every media platform. I have never witnessed so much constant advertising of a medical product previously. It seemed highly unethical especially in the face of what was being reported internationally and nationally about side effects and injuries directly following vaccination. Health providers would be criticized and investigated normally for using force, bribes and fear messaging to coerce a vulnerable patient to take a treatment that they were unsure of. And then came the public shaming and the messaging from the top to use any bribe, stick or carrot, withdraw family visits, do whatever you have to do to get your family and friends to get the vaccine. Which progressed to encouraging people to hate on anyone who was hesitant or questioning the safety and efficacy of the vaccine.  Anyone questioning got the label ‘anti vaxxer ‘, ‘granny murderer ‘or simply selfish, irresponsible citizens. 

For me personally this was a very painful experience. Close friends and family were disapproving and told me I was being selfish. I was told that I should t talk about or share the information on Medsafes website. I was told I was a foolish woman and that if I got sick I shouldn’t be allowed any treatment or hospitalization if I needed it. I was excluded from visiting friends, attending funerals and even my grandsons first birthday.  My sister in law was in Radius care after a stroke and the prolonged lockdowns were distressing with not allowing visitors. Her mental and physical health declined. She suffered another massive stroke during this time and did not recover. Her daughters traveling from Australia to see her were still held in MIQ when she died and by the time they came out, their mother had been cremated already and they were given her ashes. It was appalling. Her daughters were 25 and 27 years old and she was their only parent.  Where was the kindness in that. It was beyond cruel. 

Then came the Auckland lockdown August 17 2021. A non essential allied health worker again. The traffic light guessing game.  Level 3 level 3.1 , 3.2 , 2.2 .. ??? Mass and can I suggest deliberately confusing goal post shifting. Then the border control around Auckland where we found out we live 200m into north Waikato, south of the Auckland border. My clinic was 34 km to the north in Clevedon. Locked out of Auckland and unable to earn an income personally but still responsible for the lease and overheads of my clinic in Auckland.  I used the resurgence payments and a small business loan to keep my business going without being able to go there myself. My associates were able to continue without me. So I waited anxiously for the border to open.  But before the border opened, the mandates came into place. With the mandates I had to decide to give up the lease of my clinic. My colleagues did not want to take ivermectin my lease nor buy the clinic from me .. they simply took over my clients and my premises, no goodwill. I couldn’t cross the border to remove any equipment or furnishings from the clinic until a later date. And ultimately as I was the only one unable to work, because of the mandates, I allowed them to keep the clinic set up as it was with my furniture and equipment and pay their rent directly to the landlord. 

Once I did not comply with the vaccine mandates there were no further resurgence payments available for me. I believe from this day on I received a once off $350 cost of living payment but no compensation for the loss of income which occurred from the 17th August 2021 through to when the mandates were lifted. I did find part time work packing boxes in a factory in Thames for $21 an hour for one day a week.  I believe my taxable income for that whole year was $2700.  This has caused considerable distress, and has increased our debt on our mortgage, and credit cards.  I am still crawling my way out of the debt, paying off the small business loan, the credit cards etc and being obliged to pay provisional tax. I feel my husband and I will be a long way off retirement because of the financial setback from this period in our life. Aside from the financial stress, my life has been impacted by the negative comments and breakdown of meaningful relationships and friendships.  Nothing can compensate for the emotional hurt inflicted at this time.
