Rural GP Resigns After Police Harassment During Emergency Calls
Professional Observation from a Rural Health GP
I’m a doctor with decades of experience. I have been servicing a rural community throughout the pandemic with all its restrictions, fear mongering and forceful vaccinations etc. I volunteered my service without annual leave for 2 years, and took on extra responsibility to service another rural community who had lost their own GP service.
In my view, the most vulnerable population in NZ are not important enough to be serviced by medics. Revenue trumps all other concerns. WHY DID WE LOCK DOWN THE COUNTRY? WAS IT NOT FOR PROTECTING VULNERABLE POPULATIONS ?
I am now being thanked by this government, by its sending stalker units to follow me while driving down hills, as I responded to the COVID outbreak in our local rest home. Doing 10 km over 50 and 40 on roads with previous 100 and 80 kph speed limits (under the Road to Zero policy) was the pretext for this cop to obstruct my work on route to emergencies.
He did not care about COVID or emergencies. He was only interested in his speed radar and nothing else. These rural dust and pothole infested roads without traffic are being milked for revenue. Nothing here except cows and the long arm of the law and dust.
After a third attempt by the same local bully cop within 3 months (he showed up postulating again 10 km over as I had just arrived at our staff parking lot before a 24 hr shift) this robot threatened me with “I know where you live and work doctor and I’m on to you”. Why, I wonder?
That was the red pill for me. The disrespectful treatment of the population, and even emergency responders, by this government shows that the agenda is not health OR safety. Just extortion, revenue gathering and bullying in order to fill their desire for mismanagement of the economy in order to intimidate and control us more. I have had enough and resigned from my position in protest.
Im looking forward to the election to boot these arrogant criminals out of the government so we can breath and go back to servicing the community.
The NZ police force should be ashamed, sacrificing their Core values to be tax collectors for this government. The community has no respect for them any more.
