The New Zealand Medical Council’s Covid Crackdown: Is a Parliamentary Inquiry Overdue?
Is It Time for a Parliamentary Inquiry into Ultra Vires Enforcement Actions by the MCNZ?
The Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) is a regulatory entity established by the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act (HPCAA) 2003. As the name of the “enabling statute” suggests, the MCNZ is tasked with assuring physician competence, and defending medical ethics. The motto of the MCNZ is “Protecting the public and promoting good medicine”. At least on its own website, the MCNZ is very enthusiastic about patients giving informed consent for any treatment and especially for investigational agents and immunisations. However, the actions of the MCNZ, particularly over the last 5 years, reveal entirely different priorities that are quite divergent from its statutory purpose, and are thus ultra vires (meaning, quite literally, beyond the law).
During and after the Covid Error, we observed that the MCNZ had increasing disregard for bodily autonomy, the precautionary principle and informed consent, and had no concept of “good medicine” or true science. In actual fact, their edict to “follow the science” was more about government following the money. The problem continues to this day. The MCNZ has made its major priority the ongoing enforcement of the scientifically unsupported government narrative that the covid vaccine was “safe and effective”. Clearly, this is driven by political and commercial motives rather than appended to any scientific reality. Physician compliance with the now debunked government narrative is the relentless focus of MCNZ actions rather than physician competence.
Hidden Public Risk and Privatised Profit
Even Pfizer itself has acknowledged that it was aware of concerns for thrombosis and myocarditis, especially in adolescent males. These concerns were quietly ignored by our own Health Minister as recently revealed in Official Information Act requests. Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) allowed deployment, mostly in the Commonwealth nations, of the mRNA inoculation without further testing – or indeed, any at all. Nor were patient consent or GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) compliance required to meet EUA law, although most recipients were unaware of that little gem. NZ had ‘provisional consent’ as an equivalent – which was declined by drug regulator Medsafe due to our own lack of data, though the MoH went ahead anyway.
In the USA, this translated into a trillion dollars being taken from taxpayers and given to Big Pharma in the name of “public health”. In New Zealand, Covid Response Minister Hipkins and Health Ministers Little and Verrall also ignored the good advice given in 2021 to make very inexpensive vitamin D supplementation and Hydroxychloroquine and/or Ivermectin available.
MBIE was “open for business”, and Pfizer/Blackrock were possibly paying some officials to deceive us and steal the public purse to “keep us safe”. As Benjamin Franklin observed: “Those who would give up essential Liberty to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety”. But were New Zealanders (or anyone else) ever sufficiently informed or empowered to actually make that choice, especially in the face of overwhelming propaganda to cause disproportionate fear and economic extortion? How much did some officials make during covid for pushing the mRNA inoculation as the only solution? This should be a first step towards uncovering the corruption in the NZ covid-19 response.
The Medical Council – Bully Boys for the Mass Jab Imperative
The MCNZ has, for over 5 years, spent millions to hunt and persecute doctors of conscience for daring to question the government’s commercial political narrative at the time. The process itself has become much of the punishment still trundling on after 5 years for some... There has been no evidence of harm to the patients of these doctors to justify the ongoing expense and enforcement actions. Sequential Professional Conduct Committees (PCCs), Performance Assessment Committees (PACs), and verdicts from the various disciplinary tribunals have shown a complete lack of independence from the NZ Government’s covid-19 narrative, as enforced by the MCNZ government echo chamber. As a matter of record, successive Justice Ministers and Health Ministers have refused to make the MCNZ proceedings subject to the Official Information Act. Despite their influence on health policy for the public, there is no transparency in their proceedings which operate in a closed system with no public accountability. What has emerged is at once chilling and astonishing, demonstrating arrogance and ineptitude in equal measure. Despite internal views ranging from the Chair’s zero risk vaccine to the most dangerous medical product ever, the MCNZ told doctors to shut up and stay in line.
Surprise, Surprise – Now There is a Doctor Shortage
As numerous good NZ doctors have had their lives and their families thrown into turmoil and faced economic ruin from these ultra vires actions, the MCNZ has increasingly turned to overseas physician recruitment from 3rd world hierarchical countries with the expectation that these doctors will just “do as they are told”, unlike us. This is unlikely to improve the level of satisfaction of the people of New Zealand with their health care system.
The NZ government spent $66 billion in ‘discretionary public funding’ to respond to the covid-19 pandemic. That is roughly $13,200.00 per person. In contrast, India was able to curb its covid pandemic for roughly $5 per person by making available a simple pack of hydroxychloroquine, zinc, and doxycycline to support natural immune defences and reduce secondary bacterial infections. The strategy in India, then followed in other countries by the widespread availability of Ivermectin for those with symptomatic infections, should have obviated the need for the NZ spend on covid-19 which brought our nation to the brink of bankruptcy, shuttered small businesses throughout the country, and damaged public trust in the health profession. In retrospect, the provisional consent, for the record, was never actually justified due to available treatments, but which were actively suppressed and censured by the MCNZ.
Body Trail Leads to the Shattered Remnants of a Once Trusted Profession
Three recent articles illustrate some deadly consequences of putting pharma profits ahead of safeguarding the public.
The NZ government and the enforcement cabal at the MCNZ have only themselves to blame for “bringing the medical profession into disrepute” and breaching the trust of this nation. In effect, they have practiced medicine without a license (a civil offence) and through economic extortion they have forced medical treatment and experimentation upon our people without informed consent (causing harm and death for many). These players have wasted the public purse on an unproven investigational drug for the likely profit of some officials, with the whole thing managed by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment. The harm has been magnified by the ongoing obfuscation and gaslighting from various soft-serve “inquiries” which have deprived New Zealanders of natural justice and denied government accountability for the loss of far too many lives and $NZ66 billion.
While it is fun to think that a Parliamentary Inquiry might have teeth, we are not optimistic that there will be any serious action from MPs, the Ombudsman, Justice Minister, Health Minister, or any of the Wellington fraternity, against the Medical Council. They have all failed us. It would seem that NZ has descended into corporate fascism. We surmise that the MCNZ has performed just as two successive Parliaments have wanted for the last 5 years. In turn, unless proven otherwise, we can assume that MBIE has paid officials handsomely for their role in the covid theatre. As we emerge from the illusion of being a nation of laws, with the contrasting conduct of the MCNZ and NZDSOS doctors in mind, one cannot help but see the parody of hypocrisy and injustice that the NZ government has become. It is somewhat like an old Mel Brooks or Marx Brothers movie, but without the humour and the relaxing reassurance of fiction.
