Legal Letter to The Chief Executive, Medical Council Of New Zealand Re: Guidance Statement
New Zealand Doctors Speaking Out with Science (NZDSOS) together with lawyers Haigh Lyon, have formally submitted a legal letter to Joan Simeon, The Chief Executive, Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) regarding the Guidance Statement and their professional responsibilities and right to provide informed consent to patients.
The letter asks for clarification about the balance between new professional obligations and existing MCNZ standards when discussing the risks and benefits of medical treatments and specifically c-19 vaccination.
By formally questioning the Guidance Statement through legal channels, NZDSOS doctors hope to be clear about their ability to uphold ethical standards which allows them to provide adequate information to patients for fully informed decision-making.
