Thinking About a Covid Booster? Start Here

Covid Booster Informed Decision

Are you contemplating getting a covid booster vaccine?

STOP and ask yourself – Why?

  • Because you’ve had a reminder notice from your doctor?
  • Because you’ve seen or heard an advert recommending this?
  • Because it’s “the right thing to do”?
  • Because someone else insists you do?

Have you actually paused and weighed up the individual risks and benefits for yourself first?

We always recommend making an INFORMED DECISION.

For that, you need information.  Generally Ministry of Health and Health NZ marketing is simplistic and designed with a certain outcome in mind (needles in arms).  You are not getting all the information you need to be properly informed.

If you ask your doctor for more personalised advice, you need to be aware their advice may be compromised due to threats from the Medical Council. i.e. “there is no place for [undefined] anti-vaccination messaging”.  Although the MCNZ’s Guidance Statement has been revoked, the threat lingers.

Official Advice

The official recommendations from the government (not your doctor) can be found here:

Some additional points to consider:

Your underlying health

Do you know what your vitamin D level is (particularly heading in to winter)?

Do you get enough vitamin C from fresh fruit and vegetables?

Are you at higher risk due to underlying conditions and are you working on improving those?

Your observations

Have covid vaccines stopped people in your circles getting covid?

Are people healthier now than in 2020 overall?

The booster vaccine

A few points about the covid (booster) vaccines that have not been made clear in public messaging:

  • The covid vaccines are not at all like any previous vaccines you have received. Covid vaccination involves the injection of synthetic genetic material which instructs the body to create a foreign protein.  One of our concerns is the lack of certainty about when the body stops producing the foreign spike protein. Some people are still churning it out after 3 years according to peer-reviewed evidence. (Hulscher et al)
  • The current booster vaccine (Comirnaty LP.8.1) has not been tested independently in a clinical trial.  It is assumed to have the same risks and benefits as previous versions with no separate evidence to support this.  The cumulative effects of all boosters have never been tested either. (Medsafe datasheet)
  • The Pfizer vaccine assessed in the original clinical trial was created by Process 1 using PCR technology whereas the product injected into New Zealanders was created by manufacturing Process 2 using bacteria to produce the genetic material.  This resulted in contamination with residual DNA which contains cancer-producing genes.  The Process 2 product was never tested in a proper clinical trial. (EMA Assessment Report Feb 2021)
  • Using Pfizer data for the Process 1 product, not the one eventually given, Medsafe determined prior to vaccine provisional approval in Feb 2021 that the benefit-risk balance was NOT CLEAR.  According to an OIA response, this is the only formal risk-benefit analysis that has been carried out.  (Medsafe Clinical Evaluation Jan 2021)
  • None of the Pfizer vaccines have been tested for their ability to cause cancer (carcinogenicity) or adversely affect human genes (genotoxicity).  “Neither genotoxicity nor carcinogenicity studies were performed.”  Unfortunately, real world experience is answering those unknowns.  (Medsafe datasheet).
  • According to various studies, eg by the Cleveland Clinic, mRNA vaccines make you more vulnerable to covid, with an increasing number of doses correlated with an increasing number of infections. (Shrestha study)
We suggest that you understand your individual risk from infection, learn how to optimise your underlying health and decide whether the unknown risks of a rushed, poorly tested product are worth it for you. Even the government now admits it wasn’t safe for everyone.
