No Hiding Place: Drones, Needles, and the New Face of Power

Perhaps we have seen videos such as this one by now, profiling the use of weaponised drones by both sides in Ukraine.

They are not for the faint-hearted. The aerial footage of either tiny or extremely close-up figures running and diving and trying to disappear into a landscape that offers no cover at all, the drone moving with patience, or too fast to even register, and then the flash and the silent puff of smoke – and the person simply gone as if they had never been there at all. This is the new face of hellish war, one in which the mouse cannot hide nor rest. It knows with every passing moment that it is being watched from above by something that cannot be reasoned with and will not stop until it has finished what it came to do.

We see soldiers on both sides of the Ukraine conflict, exhausted and terrified, their attempts to evade ranging from to desperate doomed sprints to fetal position flinches that must feel horrifying. We see their faces in those final moments with hollow glazed look of mute acceptance of a fate they cannot escape. Worse still, when drone batteries run low, or as a planned campaign, civilians can become targets so as not to waste a kilo of high explosive.

And there is another face we are shown, that of the drone operator hunched over a gaming handset, with a VR headset or perhaps staring at a screen in a container far from the danger. Their expression is often the same emotional blankness because this is a game in which points are awarded and rewards are gained. They are killing but they are playing, and the videos are posted online not just as tactical intelligence but as a message that says we see you and you cannot hide, this is your end. Do not come to battle us.

What must it be like for a parent somewhere to see online their soldier-child’s last moments playing out for all to see; to watch their child flinch and run and finally stop; to know that their child’s death is being used as entertainment and propaganda; as a warning to others to submit? This is not warfare in any traditional sense. This is psychological annihilation, the systematic destruction of hope designed to spread numbness and surrender entire populations, and we would be foolish to think that this is only about Ukraine.

The Laboratory of Compliance

The drone war is not just a conflict between nations. It seems a proving ground, a laboratory in which the elite are testing and refining their strategies for social control, for compliance, for the management of populations who might one day resist their plans. Every soldier hunted and eliminated is a data point in a larger experiment, and every video posted online is a message to the rest of us about what awaits those who will not fall into line. There can be no hiding place, they are telling us. There will be no sanctuary. We will find you wherever you go and whatever you do, and we will make an example of you.

This callous indifference to human suffering is not unique to the battlefield. It is the hallmark of a class that sees human beings as assets to be exploited or obstacles to be removed. The Epstein class do not reveal an aberration but rather the operating system of the global elite, in which exploitation and trafficking and utter disregard for the dignity and wellbeing of ordinary people are simply the pleasure of doing business.

All Wars Are Bankers Wars – the ‘War on Covid’ is no different

The organised financialisation of human conflict came of age in the Napoleonic wars in 1815 when a certain banking family financed the British government’s campaign. They brought fake news to London that the Duke of Wellington had lost at Waterloo, to crash the bonds and buy them up cheap, then profit hugely when the actual truth of Napoleon’s defeat arrived later in the day.

War for the banking class is never a tragedy; it is profit and resource grabs and geopolitical leverage, and the suffering of soldiers and civilians is debit, and even a useful tool for maintaining control.

The Pandemic as Opportunity

This is the same dynamic that treated a pandemic as an opportunity, a chance to consolidate power and redistribute wealth upward and test the limits of social compliance on a global scale. The world’s people were told we were being hunted by a virus, that it was everywhere and that no one was safe and that the only escape was the injection. But for many the injection became the hunter, and the spike protein that we were told would provoke protection became a persistent pathological agent causing harm that The System refuses to acknowledge. This is the mRNA meat grinder, into which billions entered trusting the system, and from which millions have emerged injured or disabled or dead, their stories dismissed and their suffering minimised.  Worse still, their existence is erased from official statistics while the same machine that profits from the vaccine denies the harm it causes.

The Seed of Our Hope

But there is a crucial difference between the soldiers in those videos and us. While they are conscripts in a war they did not choose, we were told to comply, and many of us said no. We pushed back and we refused; we did question the narrative; we saw the pattern and rejected it, and that refusal is the seed of our hope.

The behaviour of the financial elite, the same class that profits from wars between nations and wars on humanity itself, will ultimately either destroy us all or unite good people to wivtory against a common cause. Because there is no third option. They will continue to exploit and divide and consume because that is their nature, and our only choice is how we respond. Doom scrolling on the couch is not a response, neither is clicking ‘like’. Watching the videos, feeling the horror and then scrolling on is exactly what they want so that we feel passive and numb and alone, with the glazed look of surrender that they have worked so hard to cultivate in us.

Do we Choose Glazed Defeat or Defiant Resistance?

Sometimes instead of imagining what it would be like to resist, we can look at those videos and see that some soldiers did not have that glazed look. Some looked up at the drone and they did not flinch or run and they did not surrender even in their final moments. That defiance is what we must all learn to cultivate within ourselves. The way forward is collective action and solidarity across all the artificial divides of nationality, ideology, vaccine status – and it is refusing to be hunted and refusing to let the silence continue. It is choosing to see each other and protect each other, demanding accountability from those who believe they are above it.

This is the moment we are in. We either let the drones, literal and metaphorical, pick us off one by one, or we rise together and say enough. Get involved, find your issue and your people, and speak your truth because the system does not fear individuals, but it does fear networks of resistance.

The question is not whether they will continue their hunt but how easy we make it for them, and that is a question that each of us must answer – not with our words alone but with our actions, and our courage and our refusal to look away.

We are quickly approaching the climax of history and the only really useful thing we can do is individually make sure we are on the right side regardless of what our eyes tell us. The powers arrayed against us are intimidating to be sure, but only as a tsunami that floods and recedes…the mountain remains. It is a fact that our enemy has overwhelming power to kill. However, I have a friend who has the power of both death and life…not just death. When the enemy has killed, he is out of weapons. And when I come back, alive, from the dead, just as another before me…the game will be over and I, along with innumerable others, will have won. So a notice to the powers that be: “Do your worst, it is the hour and power of darkness once more. But the light is coming very, very soon, and you will be gone forever.”
