New Zealand has reported its first two cases of Monkeypox in the past few days, with neither case being linked. The alarmist media have reported on this newly arrived infection to our shores with their known tactics of creating fear and confusion. Is it contagious, dangerous or just another rash? Are statements reassuring or do they plant seeds of doubt?

The mixed messages do not leave us any the wiser and we suggest New Zealanders be alert to the language used and the manipulation which can and has been previously utilised to spread propaganda.

It is more important than ever that we critically assess information and question what we see, hear and read especially if the narrative is from the mainstream media. See our series on on this subject here.
