A Tribute to Dr Mike Godfrey
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Dr Mike Godfrey, colleague, friend and stellar health professional who gave so much to others over his many years of clinical practice. Mike was an inspirational and well-respected doctor who helped people regain their health when the system was unable to and had left patients feeling abandoned and without hope.
May his legacy live on. Rest in peace from the NZDSOS Team.
Dr Mike Godfrey 1938 – 2024
I first met Mike Godfrey over 30 years ago at a unique medical conference in the USA. It was unique in that the focus was on educating doctors to help their patients be proactive so as to not need doctors. In other words, prevention, with the emphasis on good nutrition, thinking and exercise. We became colleagues and good mates as warriors-in-arms in the battle against disease-based Pharma.
We met many times over the years both in New Zealand and the States. Mike would regale all who were near with stories of his numerous sessions with the avatar Sai Baba in India, his trips into the bowels of the Amazon, records held in fishing the Bay of Plenty, facts on mercury and fluoride poisoning, chelation therapy and the value of breast thermography. We would walk and talk in his Tauranga fruit orchards which he lovingly tended and whose fruit he personally sold at the Tauranga weekend market.
Mike authored “What’s the Matter?”, a personal biography which was awarded spiritual book of the year. As well as being a spiritual and medical renaissance man, Mike was a warrior for medical freedom, fighting the hard battles against a corrupted NZ medical council and media, eventually relinquishing his medical registration in his 70’s.
There used to be an artistry in the practice of medicine before it devolved into Medi-business. Mike is one of the all-too-few who applied that artistry and has kept a commitment for the highest good of the patient. He has reinforced my father’s advice when queried on whether to take the easier and safer road in this lifetime . One word from both: “Don’t!”
Now Mike has moved on from this remarkable lifetime. I can only assume he will continue his support from the other side. Thank you, Mike, for being such a Light to this world as well as my friend. I am eternally grateful to have known and fought alongside you.

My path crossed with Mike’s in our support of Fluoride-free work and also in a search for his book, “What’s the Matter?” that was mentioned in an interview he did with Liz Gunn back in 2022. There were some wonderful quotes in his book, two of which follow below — it just felt like Mike may be pleased that we read them again: “Anyone who has had such an experience of God, who has felt such a profound sense of connection with reality, knows that there is only one truly significant work to do in life, and that is to love; to love nature, to love people, to love animals and to love creation itself, just because it is. To serve God’s creation with a warm and loving hand of generosity and compassion – that is the only meaningful existence.” G Rodonaia MD, PhD (Near Death Experience [NDE] survivor. Also: “As a man casts off worn-out garments and acquires others that are new, even so the indweller casts off worn-out bodies and enters others that are new.” Sri Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita. Mike; you have now crossed that Great Divide in this life and we wish you a wonderful future ahead. We are all enriched for having had you alongside us. Thank you for all that you have done and the magic you created to make this world more enlightened. We salute you. With love, from us all.

What a splendid & deep message about the goodness Dr Mike Godfrey has done to humanity in obedience to our Great Creator! I am looking forward to meet him in Heaven as after reading about his time on earth, he has left an example not many will follow! But Thanks be to God for using him in such a way, the people who have known him & be helped through his good & safe medical advices for their lives will remember to share their experience & spread his good example! Praise the Lord indeed for such a man’s legacy!!!
